What is Adobe Express?

Adobe Express is Adobe's accessible design platform aimed at non-designers and content creators who need to produce professional-looking graphics, social media posts, short videos and PDFs quickly. It sits between Canva (consumer) and Adobe Creative Cloud (professional) in terms of complexity and power.

The platform includes Adobe Firefly AI natively -- allowing users to generate images from text, remove and replace backgrounds, apply generative fill, and create text effects directly within designs. Every AI-generated asset is commercially safe, trained only on licensed and public domain content.

Adobe Express connects to the broader Adobe ecosystem: assets created here can be opened in Photoshop or Illustrator, and Creative Cloud subscribers get Express Premium included in their plan. The Brand Kit feature stores logos, colours and fonts so every output is consistent.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Firefly AI image generation is commercially safe -- trained on licensed content only
  • Deep Adobe ecosystem integration -- open assets in Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Included free with Adobe Creative Cloud subscription
  • Brand Kit keeps logos, colours and fonts consistent across all outputs
  • Background removal and generative fill work directly in the design canvas
  • Trusted Adobe brand makes it an easy enterprise recommendation

Cons

  • Template library smaller than Canva -- fewer starting points for new designs
  • Premium plan required for most AI features on the standalone version
  • Interface less intuitive than Canva for complete beginners
  • Video editing features are basic compared to dedicated video tools
  • Requires Adobe account -- adds friction for one-off users

AI Tool Bible verdict

Adobe Express is the strongest alternative to Canva for users who value commercial AI safety or who are already in the Adobe ecosystem. The Firefly integration is genuinely useful and every generated asset is commercially licensed by default. Adobe's affiliate programme through CJ Affiliate offers solid commission rates making it a good revenue listing.
