Notion AI is not a standalone product. It is the AI capability built into Notion — the workspace platform that combines notes, databases, wikis, project management and documentation in one place. The AI features are woven throughout: available in the editor as you write, across databases as an autofill and summarisation tool, and as a conversational assistant that can query your entire connected workspace.
The feature set in 2026 covers four areas. AI writing assistance — draft, edit, summarise, translate, change tone, fix grammar and generate ideas directly within any Notion page. Ask Notion — a Q&A interface that searches across your entire workspace and connected tools (Google Drive, Slack) and returns cited answers, similar in concept to Google NotebookLM but scoped to your organisation's data rather than uploaded documents. Notion Agent — an AI assistant built into the editor and sidebar that handles multi-step tasks from a single prompt: drafting a document, querying a database, updating records and creating structured content without switching tabs. Custom Agents — user-built autonomous workflows that run multi-step sequences on a schedule or trigger, powered by AI. These use Notion Credits, introduced in May 2026, priced at $10 per 1,000 credits per month.
The critical pricing note: the standalone Notion AI add-on ($8–10/user/month) was retired in May 2025. Full AI access — including Notion Agent, Ask Notion, and Custom Agents — now requires the Business plan at $20/user/month (billed annually). Free and Plus plan users receive only a 20-response one-time trial with no monthly reset. For any team planning to use Notion AI as a genuine daily tool, Business is the minimum required plan.
Notion AI is powered by multiple foundation models including Claude, GPT and Gemini, with the model selected automatically based on the task. It runs on web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
